General Manager Commercial Aviation FAA Repair Station

Vortex Aviation Americas, with facilities in Fort Lauderdale Florida, Florida, and Chicago, Illinois is a globally recognized FAA / EASA Part 145-approved repair station for commercial engine aftermarket repair services. We are a leading Global “On-Wing” Turbine Engine Support Company providing 24/7 AOG engine maintenance and support with a focus on field service and hospital shop visits.

With an ambitious growth plan, Vortex is looking to add a seasoned General Manager who is prepared to lead the operations’ efforts through strong financial and thought leadership and team collaboration. The position reports to the SVP, of the Technical Services Group.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated General Manager to oversee the operations of a Commercial Aviation FAA Repair Station with a focus on commercial aviation engines. The General Manager will play a key role in ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the repair station while upholding regulatory compliance standards set by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other international Civil Aviation Authorities. This position requires strong leadership abilities, technical expertise in commercial aviation engines, a thorough understanding of FAA regulations and industry best practices as well as a coaching and mentoring passion to lead the Team. This role will have full Profit and Loss (P&L) Responsibilities.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Commercial Aviation FAA Repair Station, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations, safety protocols, and quality standards.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to drive business growth including building business cases and delivery on new product line introductions, improving operational efficiency, and enhancing customer satisfaction.
  • Drive the business by leading and managing a team of technicians, supervisors, and administrative staff, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Monitor and evaluate repair station performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including internal sales stakeholders as well as customer airlines, OEMs, suppliers, and regulatory agencies, to ensure smooth operations and business development opportunities.
  • Ensure the availability and efficient utilization of resources, including personnel, equipment, and facilities, to meet customer demands and production targets.
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to establish and maintain a robust quality management system, including documentation control, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Have the ability to build and deliver top and bottom-line financial goals by engaging heavily in the budgeting process, including cost control measures, pricing strategies, and financial reporting to achieve profitability goals.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory changes, and implement necessary adjustments to maintain a competitive edge.

Engine Aircraft Technicians

Reporting to the workshop manager duties will include the maintenance and repair of Aircraft engines at our facilities in Fort Lauderdale (Davie) FL and Chicago (Roselle) IL, and on worldwide field service.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repair, maintenance, and inspections of Aircraft engines up to and including modular level breakdown in accordance with Industry and OEM Standards.
  • Work as part of a team to ensure that customer requirements are met in terms of quality and performance delivering key milestone targets set by the workshop supervisor.
  • Ensure the timely completion of Inspection task cards, Reports and Inventories as required.
  • Maintain the tooling and equipment as per the MOE requirements.
  • Support field service operations for on wing customer requests.
  • Other duties as directed.

Requirements

  • Ability to Read and write English
  • Second Level Education.
  • Recognized Technical Apprenticeship with 2 years’ post Apprenticeship experience in an Aviation Maintenance Environment.
  • Previous experience working on PW, GE or CFM engine models, previous experience in modular replacement on CFM or similar engines in an engine shop environ an advantage.
  • Ability to read and understand ATA 100 Maintenance Manuals.
  • Computer Literacy in Windows Word, Excel and PowerPoint essential.
  • Willing to travel at short notice to support field service as required.
  • Previous bore-scope experience an advantage

Aviation A&P Inspector

Looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual with Inspector experience to work with our growing team in Roselle Illinois.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Oversees all inspections, repairs, and component changes and accompanying documentation are accomplished in accordance with the manufacturer or FAA approved procedures, conforming to quality control standards, on schedule, and in compliance with FAA regulations.
  • Manage and review work orders while jobs are in progress monitoring for proper sign offs, supervising and inspecting as required.
  • Provide technical support on a variety of tasks.
  • Report to Production Manager

Qualifications and Skills

  • 5 Years Experience minimum
  • Experience in supervising others.
  • Must hold valid FAA Powerplant license.
  • Have own tools.
  • Valid Passport.
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals, diagrams, and work cards.
  • Ability to work with others.
  • Must be willing to work overtime and weekends on short notice.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Computer literate.
